“Joyful is as Joyful Does “

.

Joyful expectation accompanies my thoughts of you, LORD. If you have it, it’s mine!

I wake to spread my arms to receive the awareness of the gifts Thee give to me,

Joyful is as joyful does, sharing the day; receiving kindness and returning them in kind

knowing that I have been given, to give to others, is the gift I receive for loving Thee.

to discover I’ve been given freedom and peace in the midst of sorrow, I’m overjoyed,

a way to feel loving arms close around me, even when I alone at home.

a crowbar to escape circumstances Satan strews in our path, our confidence destroyed;

or an unavoidable sadness that recedes to a gift of surety; “Love from on high on loan”?

Don’t we find strength as the disasters ebb, leaving peace in its place, behind it?

Aren’t we are stronger and wiser at the end of the trial than we were before?

Oh that every day could be sunny and pain were something visible so we could avoid it!

But the cost for our peace was borne at Calvary, by the Savior we rightfully adore,

that we might have freedom and joy in the midst of unimaginable sorrows

to bring us contentment and wisdom, great gifts at any price need borne

For if our yesterday’s brought us this far, imagine our tomorrows?

The toy outgrown, the grief abated, like the Rose above the thorn.
