The question came to me
if
I were to summarize
what part of my life was most rewarding?
The part with Cats!

Gang
members are defined
by ritualistic movements
but Cats learned to communicate this way
to
avoid blood!

When two humans meet
they touch eyes, posture and sounds
in
muted imitation of tom cats
proving themselves.
4.
Love
rests in the open,
water finds its own level,
you cannot command Cat’s affection
simply
enjoyed.
5.
Sometimes he looks so wise
Sometimes a Sage of ages
but
almost invariably he will turn
into a clown!

I hear the crunch of
food
the rustle of window blinds
or shocked awake by shafts of sunlight
Cat
on the prowl!

An enigma in white
a furry contradiction
the soul of
a poet and a warrior's heart
all locked in one.

I slept late this morning
and happened
to glimpse from my bed
my wide eyed cat seated on my walker
"What makes this GO?"

I hated to leave him
I could hear Cat from the door
"Wait Mom-don't go-you forgot something
here-
you forgot ME!!!!

When I wake he is there,
when I look up he is near.
if a
person tried to live so closely
I'd run screaming!

He watched me with sharp gaze
knowing I went out the door
but this time he was sitting on his chair
silence followed????

I watch him maturing
I see him finding his niche
I miss the kitten who played for the joy

Sometimes when I glance up
He'll look away politely
but turn about is fair play as they say
sometimes- I stare

The mellow Cat now rests
included in his world
but
no longer as central to his needs
I'm invited
now.

A burly white form sleeps
or
reclines on the window
near enough to me to maintain
our link
but still apart
